July 3 - 12 Barguzin valley
Day 1 (July 3th)
Meeting at the airport of Ulan-Ude, the capital of Buryatia. Breakfast after the night flight and set off to the Lake Baikal shore.
We will travel 450 kilometers through Siberian taiga along lake Baikal and arrive to retreat centre Taban Arshan.
Taban Arshan is the ascetic retreat centre near the mountains where yogins and yoginies live and practice. You can stay in tents and retreat houses and share with us simple life of buddhist commune. You can choose tent or a retreat house. Retreat house is very simple – wooden bed and wooden table are the maximum comfort. WC is outside. Bath is in sauna or Russian banya, but hot water is almost always available for every – day hygiene.
Lectures on Sowa Rigpa, individual consultations, traditional Tibetan external therapies are available in Taban Arshan.
In 3 kilometres there is a village – Kurumkan where we can book a hotel for you. Hotel fees are not included into the cost of journey.
Day 2 (July 4th)
50 kilometers to north-east of Taban Arshan – and we are at the canyon of River Alla. Flowing down the mountains, the river cuts the rocks and creates beautiful narrow canyons.
At the evidence of both Russian and European tourists is one of the most beautiful places on Earth. You almost stop breathing when you see magnificent panorama of the mountain canyon with the stream-like river on the bottom! The rocks are “crying” with thermal springs, famous from the 19th century by their anti-age capacities, temperature of some of the 46 springs reaches 77 degrees. You can drink the warm water or bath in it and cure your bones and muscles.
We will walk around, make a tracking along the river to the waterfall, take the hot bath and stay in one of the guest houses there.
Day 3 (July 5th)
We will collect om-bu – one of the 5 nectars, then those who wish can climb up one of the rocks.
Back to Taban Arshan. Drying herbs. Sauna.
Day 4 (July 6th)
In the morning we will make our way to the opposite side of the valley – the foot of the Ikat mountain range.
We cross the flat steppe and visit Suburgan, built near the place of birth of Sodoj lama, who is considered reincarnation of Nagardzuna – Indian philosopher and yogi, and follow sand dunes of Argada river.
The scope of our journey is the foot of the Ikat range where a big stone Serge stands. Serge is the symbol of the Tree of life, the tree that unites the three worlds. According to the legend, the protectors of the Barguzin valley come down from the sky and leave their horses at this stone. Here you will experience the very special feeling of intercommunication with nature when the inner world of the person becomes the part of the outer world of the Universe.
We will spend the night at the Argada river. Night in the tent camp.
